I never expected some of the velocities to be as high as they were.

I just bought a little 1849 pocket pistol in .31 caliber and got 1012fps with 15 grains of triple 7 powder. Not too shabby for what it is.

Chronographing pistols can be an eye opener when some shorter barrel option generates higher velocities than longer barrel options using the same ammo.

Haven't done a lot of it, but seen it in rimfires and .357's.
