I have been thinking of getting one of the Cabelas branded scopes. Has anyone had any issues with one? I don't want to spend alot of money for a scope that will be used one week a year.

If the scope fails on that one week did you really save any thing?Optics is the wrong place to save pennies JMO

Purchased a Bushnell Trophy 250 DOA and had it mounted at Cabelas. I really liked the scope for $130 (with Cabelas $20 coupon for purchase over $100) There was a problem (very small problem, there were two elevation turrets) with it. Took it back (no problems) but Cabelas didn't have another one because Bushnell is coming out with the new XLT line.

Point is, the Cabelas sales guy wouldn't sell me a Cabelas MZ scope, he kept putting the Bushnell in front of me.

My son dropped his T/C Pro hunter and the Cabelas 2X-7X dropped 7 inches of impact on that drop. He has a Leopold 3-9 now.

Another scope that I have found to be as durable as any of the mid-price range sccope are the Burris line. I think they have an economy line called the Timberline. I know with a scope you should always buy the best you can, but that is just it, sometimes the best you can do, is the best you can do.
Check out that timberline a friend has one, and claims it does very well. I have several Burris but they are the Fullfield II. A little more expensive but solid as a rock. I shoot one on a lightwieght 3 inch slug gun, and the other on a Marlin .450 shooting a 430 hard cast bullet, and they both continue to hold there zero year after year.

Just read all the reviews on cabelas branded scopes,it's a real mixed bag.that being said i wouldn't purchase one.

After you buy three of them in the next 10 years, you'll realize you would have been better off buying a better scope that you'll not worry about. Optics ain't the place to skimp.
