I used to want a Scout pretty badly, and didn't get one, but they're still for sale on the used market and I think I deserve a Christmas present as much as anybody. So, this is the year.

Does anyone know what the rate of twist is on the .50 carbines? I.e., does it shoot round balls or conicals or both?

I also wonder if it would be a big deal to change the percussion cap nipple to a 209 nipple. I won't bother with that if I stay with BP or Pyrodex, but I'm considering Blackhorn and I understand it's designed to be lit with a shotgun primer.
Well I have one its a 1-22 twist or 1-20 .Both pistol & rifle 50 cal shoots round balls an maxi & the hunters in 2inch or less at a 100 yards with 80-90 gr of powder black or hodgens.Sabots just dont seem to go less then 1- 1/2 inches at 100 yards but I like the maxi best with both
As far as the 209 goes I don't think they make them

If you haven't seen the nipple for a Scout, You should download the manual from T/C. the Scout was their first inline and the nipple is very different from anything out there now. CCI or Winchester #11 magnums should work fine with anything other than Blackhorn 209. Look at the inside cup of the hammer, it looks like a sidelock hammer. I don't believe you can ever change this to a 209 ignition.
Could you use a musket cap? They will give you a lot more fire.
I don't have a way right now to show the nipple for the Scout. It is removable, but unlike any other nipple I have seen. The total length is about 1 & 5/16" long and requires either T/C's special nipple wrench or a 9/16" open end wrench to remove. It can only be removed after the barrel has been separated from the receiver. the threads are about 1/2" in diameter. I haven't heard of a Musket nipple ever being made for the Scout. If anyone would like a copy of the manual, I have a downloaded version I could email as an attachment. It is in PDF format.
