What is your favorite recipe for your Savage ML-ll .50 cal.

projectile choice, powder choice and weights and measures. Thanks!
I have yet to find a load mine does not shoot. That said here is the load I settled on. Barnes 290 grain TZ. I replace the Barnes sabot with a MMP black high pressure sabot. Powder is 44 grains of Accurate 5744. Primer CCI 209 magnum. This will give me about 1950fps very consistently. Not a screaming fast load but plenty for out to 200 yards recoil is almost nothing. I sight in at 2 1/2 inches high at a hundred puts me 6 1/2 inches low at 200. Bullet performs great on whitetails. Accuracy is scary. I usually shoot one shot to confirm zero and foul the bore before season. The few times I have shot for groups it was a ragged hole. Best was just under 3/4s of an inch measured edge to edge not center to center for three shots at a hundred.
Nice detailed info. I will give it a go!

I was drawn for muzzleloader deer! I broke out the savage 10ml-ii that I havent shot in 4-5 years and was looking at the load data. Looks like a lot has happened sense then! Now for the questions:

1. Has Savage updating their officially approved loads? The manual that came with the rifle is pretty thin on approved loads.
2. Are the individual manufacturers publishing load data for their sabots?
3. Lastly, Ive always used 777. Besides the fun of running up loads will smokeless give me that much more performance?

I have a peep cite that Im pretty effective with out to 100 yards, but Im going to be chasing coues and will be looking to reach out to 200 yards. So Im thinking about a scope. Im a Leupold guy and am going back and forth between their muzzleloader scope, the ultimate grand slam, and one of their cds scopes. I have a new 4.5-10 cds that has been mounted, but not fired. It is sitting on a kimber Montana bob and I think I would like to get a smaller scope for that rig anyway. Might be able to save some coin and just flip the scope over to the savage.

Any thoughts welcome.

The link is the latest info. I would chronograph any load you try as all of Savage's date seems high on the velocity. don't know of any sabot manufacturers offering load data. Second link has lots of info on the Savage including loads. As for 777 versus smokeless couple things. First check if smokeless is legal. Second smokeless is way more reliable and temperature stable. Might not give you that much more performance but it will more consistent. If legal I would go smokeless.

I've tried multiple powders in ML10s and always seem to come back to IMRSR4759. 42grns under 300s or 43-44 under 250s lit by Win 209s.

I've been using the 300grn Bonded SWs in HPH12s over 42g 4759 lately.
Tried a pretty wide variety of load combos, but have settled on the 300gr XTP, MMP black sabot and 43 gr of IMR4759. Accuracy has been consistently good and the bullet effective on deer over the last 2 seasons.
4759 seemed to give me just a little better performance than 5744.
Both the mag and regular version of the XTP shoot well, but am not yet able to comment on hunting performance as I have only hunted with the mag version.
I put a Nikon Omega on my Savage, and it seems to work well, tho I have Leupolds on most of my rifles. The constant 5" eye relief of the Nikon was my primary reason for trying the Nikon. It is a good scope, but I won't be buying more.

Picked up some imr sr4759. I'm heading to the range tomorrow and have a simple question: What is the best way to carry premeasured charges to the range/hunting?

Ive seen the tubes but they appear designed to carry the triple7 and pyrodex pellets.

Thanks.
Search ebay for black powder tubes. A bunch of people sell small tubes that have nice screw on tops. They are only about two inches long and work great. One guy sells two sizes and you can get as many of each size you want. I use the short ones to hold my powder charge and the long ones will hold three bullets in sabots. The link is who I have bought from.

You can use any tubes designed for pyrodex or triple seven. I don't like them though as they are so much bigger than you need. Only precaution I take with any plastic tube is I wipe them inside and out with a fabric softener sheet to eliminate any static electricity.

Power Tubes
Try 45 grs. of VV N110 under a 250 gr. Barnes @ 2,370 fps. Very accurate load!

I have tried 4759, 5744, RL-7 and a few others and 4759 shoots best for me. Last year I shot 43gr 4759 and 260gr Harvester Scorpions.
