Will my 6 year old gun handle this newer powder vs 777?
Thx for the help!!!
As long as you can get it to ignite. It has about the same power as T7, but a higher ignition temp.

Does your gun use 209 primers?
Not a good choice due to the breechplug. A 209-fired A & H uses a T/C "three way" nipple array: BH209 isn't a good choice here.
Randy,
I change the breach plug that came with the rifle. It was a multiple piece design that I did not like and now use the Precision Rifle's (one piece) design for 209 primers!
Will that make a difference??

It might, I've not used one. Cecil claims it "is a must" for Blackhorn 209, so he must think it works.
I have 2 Austin Halleck's, .45 & .50. Both shoot BH209 with out a hiccup with Precision Rifle conversion. They shoot it very well. Tried Cecil's conversion to small rifle primers, would work sometime, but not everytime. Even tried BH209 with the stock A&H multi-piece breech plug and had no problems.
Thanks johnp034! Cecil told me the same thing! Not a problem with the new conversion!! If you look the way he designed it you wonder why A&H did not do this in the first place. The A&H is a great shooting ML and did not want to spend the funds for a new one. I also wanted to get rid of my old 777 powder that is 5 years old!
I have a A&H 50 cal. I have not heard of using BH209 or the "conversion". Please tell me more.
The conversion is a solid type breech plug that fires a 209 shotgun primer. It allows you to use BlackHorn 209 powder which is the latest & greatest BP substitute on the market. But it needs a solid breech plug to fire it. The original A&H breech plug was a split ring sort of affair with spring type wire around it. It is not recommended to use BH209 with that breech plug. Go to www.prbullet.com and you'll see the A&H conversion. Its simply a matter of unscrewing your BP & screwing the new one in.
To johnp034,
Thanks for the reply. I live in Washington where we have to have an exposed nipple so I guess BH209 won't work for me.
