I wanted to make sure my scope was still zereod on my Winchester Apex 29 inch barrel. I could only shoot a 50 yard target. It printed 2 inch high over aim point. I was shooting 100 grain 777 with a 200 grain TC Shock Wave flat base. Question is what will the trajectory look like at 100, 150 yards? Thanks The 100 yard site in area was closed off for some reason today and this is the first time I shot this load combination. Thanks
The only way to tell for sure is to shoot it. An external ballistics calculator will be in the ballpark.http://www.biggameinfo.com/BalCalc.aspx Plug in your numbers and have at it!

Yup. That's why you need to shoot it. You can usually find the claimed BC in published material, and a bit of research will get you close in MV. Talking ballpark estimates here. Say it is estimated at 4" low at 150, and is actually 7. That's pretty close. The real problems come to play over 150, due to rapidly deteriorating velocity. It is a guess, but a good one. Heck - it's ALL a guess till you shoot it. 2" high at 50 with that load oughtta be pretty close to on at 150 - I'd guess within 3". Just a guess. Sure would not shoot at something with it till I tried it out.
I've found my ML consistently shoot lower than predicted/calculated POI at longer range. I consider past 150 yds longer range for hunting ML.

I've found this using 3 different ML shooting a pretty wide variety of sabot and conical ammo.

When plugging info into various ballistic calculators I've reduced BC values by 10-20% and yet still my actual drop is more than predicted, sometimes by up to 6"

My guess is this is due to actual MV being lower than predicted. I need a chrony.

Bottom line, the programs get you ballpark, but IMO you have to shoot it.
