MANY coats of low gloss tung oil, buffed every 3 coats with 0000 steel wool. Last night I rubbed it down with boiled linseed oil and let it dry over night, wiped it down with a rag and shes very good looking now. Its amazing what an oil finish does VS a spray on finish, this stock was originally a orange looking color.

Looks really nice. Good work there. I've got a 45 and a 50 Green Mtn for my Renegade. Your's a roundball twist I'd assume?
Posted By: bigblock455 Re: TC Hawken - 04/04/14
I'd imagine its a 1:48 twist since its such a small caliber. Most 40cals and below should be 1:48 because they shoot such a small powder charge.

Very nice. Much nicer than the one I made. I'd be embarassed to put it up.

I just got my 50 cal. back from TC this past week, after they re-barreled it for the 2nd time in 30 years.( under warranty)

They had it since Dec 6, 2013

A very well done T/C Hawken. I am sure it will shoot as good as it looks.

Nice! What will you hunt with it? Game up the size of deer?
Posted By: bigblock455 Re: TC Hawken - 04/06/14
Not my rifle, but if i were to use it, rabbits and targets mainly lol. I think the gent I refinished it for mainly wants it for target use.

I do have a 45cal tc hawken parts gun out of the deal if any one is interested.

That should be on the cover of a magazine. Excellent work.

When I finally took the black powder plunge I bought a used T/C
.50 Hawken. Pleased beyond my wildest dreams.
Now I have 2 cap locks and one flint.
