I was able to shoot a 6 pt buck thurday night with this load at 90 yards.Load was 110grs T-7, with harvester sabot. This bullet shoots really ggod but it is tough to load with a 452. 54 sabot. The shot was quartering away. This is the first time this bullet did not exit, it broke the off side leg/shoulder. It was bulging under the hide just in front of the shoulder. The buck ran about 70 yards and was down. This is a tough bullet but an excellant option for 54 and 50 cal smoke poles. Hornady advised that this bullet will expand down to 1000fps. But if placed well that may not matter. I have not chronographed this load but it should be travelling in the 1500fps to 1700fps range. FYI, Blue
Have you ever tried any 54x50 sabots and 50cal bullet? There are a few nice options in the 300-350gr range.
no, but I have used to shoot the barnes 50 cal saboted copper bullet, 325grs. It shot pretty well but they are now about a buck a bullet.the barnes bullet was a hammer with big holes in and out and bloods trials a blind man could follow! Of the choices in 50 cal. pistol bullets you have to go heavy in order to get some sectional density, other wise they short, stubby and lose their juice quickley over distance and drop like a stone. If you go heavy in grains weight equaling better density the bullet kills on both ends!
