Can anyone tell me about the Leupold 3x9-40 muzzle loader scope? How would it compare to the regular Leupold VX2 3x9-40 scopes. Is one better than the other for use on a muzzle loader?

I'm pretty sure it's a VX-1 with the parallax set for 75 yards or so. I've had 3 of the 2-7s and never a problem. One's riding on my Knight right now. The current VX-1s are supposed to be pretty much the previous VX-II or thereabouts. Good, solid scopes.

The main difference is in the lens coatings and reticle. The Ultimateslam muzzle loader scope has the Sabot Ballistic Reticle that is calibrated for some muzzleloader and shotgun sabot loads out to 300 yds. Its lens coating is comparable to the VX1 line. The VX2 will have a bit better (2%) light transmission. I don't think either is a bad choice.

They are nice scopes, but I personally don't like the reticle. Too much clutter. I would look at a regular VX1 or VX2.

I like the vx 1 cause it has the lockring eyepiece

some of ya might be shocked if you take your scopes with those fast focus eyepeices and jiggle the eyepiece(if it moves)
this is bad joo-joo for sure!!!!!!!!!!
you will see the reticle move in reference to your eye and your target wen looking thru your scope and jiggle the eyepiece housng

no cure for such scope no matter how much it cost or its reputation
take it back
sell it
or toss it away I would not buy a scope if the fast focus eyepiece shows symptoms of reticle shift in anyway

and I have seen the problem in the new vx2



many brands out their on the market have this problem

it is a issue with fast focus eyepiece scopes across the board
many of them are like this

your average joe never notices it
dosent give it a thought cause they just plain don't know stuff
then they think the have a wandering zero problem or shift in impact problem
when the problem is a loose tolerance fast focus eyepeice
