I am trying to find a .45 caliber barrel for my TC Encore platform. I am not having much luck. Anyone have suggestions or have one that is for sale?
Why not .50?
I have a .50. I have two receivers and had a .45 cal for one but the barrel is bad and want to replace it. I don't think a .50 will fit on the .45 receiver. (I may be wrong, as I don't know much about the encores.) I bought from a friend several years ago and I thought he said he had the .45 for his daughter because the frame and everything was smaller.

If I am mistaken, I will replace with a .50. no brainer there.
You only source will be the used market. The .45 caliber muzzle loading barrels were twisted 1/20 and gave T/C plenty of headaches. The last year the .45 barrels were offered T/C did correct their error and offered the barrels twisted 1/28.

My first two .45 barrels were twisted 1/20 which I gave up on trying to get them to shoot. I had T/C replace the second .45 barrel with a .50 caliber barrel.

If you want to shoot a lighter bullet buy a .50 and try the .50 200 gr shock wave with the blue sabot. I have taken deer out to 212 yards with this bullet. This bullet propelled with 110 grs to 110 grs of BH-209 shoots 6 inches flatter a 200 yards than the 250 gr shock wave or Hornady 250 gr bullet.

The 200 gr shock wave bullet is a "sleeper" in a .50 ML rifle and the least used bullet in ML platforms...just not sure why??

The Encore frame is the same, regardless of the barrel. I have a .50 ML, 30.06, and a 12 GA slug barrel. That's the beauty of the Encore, that you can put anything that they make on it. I'm not sure if Pro Hunter or other types of Encore frames are interchangeable though.
Keep in mind, you also have to buy a forehand.
Thank you all. I don't know why I thought there was a smaller receiver/frame for the .45 cal. I will get a 209x50 for that frame and my son and I can both hunt.

I guess I should have tried the .50 on the other frame before I asked the question.

Thanks again.
I have a 50 encore, and it really shoots 250 grain sabots with 90 grains of 2F.
We have a short inline season here in PA. Only one week in mid October, and does only. Of course you can use it in rifle season.
"Real" muzzle loader season is 2 weeks after Christmas, and only flintlocks are legal. No scopes. Buck or doe permitted. Inline is much easier to shoot, and they always go bang. Can't say the same thing for flint locks, especially when it is damp. Even walking through underbrush with dew is very hard on the pan powder.
I'd call E. Arthur Brown Co.
