The killing "range" for our tree stand or blind is roughly 30 yards. If you get really lucky you might add another 10 if you pick a shot through all the bushes and branches. Then it seems like no matter which way I am sitting a deer will come in on my off side making a rifle almost useless because I am no good shooting right handed.
Our ML season ends next Friday so wont have it in time to test fire and mount a sight (either red dot or 2X scope) as I just ordered it today.
It should be fun and different:

That might be the best looking CVA I've seen.

I'd imagine the learning curve on handling that with heavy loads will be a bit steep. Good luck.
It shouldn't be to bad:) I owned several S&W 500's and one BFR 500 JRH in the past.
I've had a few scoped handguns and much prefer red dots, especially at the ranges you're talking. Just don't go too cheap.
you didnt order from cva did you? they charge more so they dont under cut their product suppliers.

www.muzzle-loaders.com might have the best prices on the optima pistol.

Yes but Buds does not sponsor the FM forum. Muzzle-loaders.com does sponsor that forum. You should check with Carlos at Ed's gunshop first. He is a great guy and has good pricing most of the time.

Never heard of the FM forum. Pistol is already sitting at my house. When I started this thread on 10 Nov mentioned I just ordered it.
Pretty impressed. Pistol is well built and trigger pull is excellent. It even come with studs for the sling swivels, just need to screw them in. Hammer extension and palm saver for the ramrod are also in the box. I am thinking a Burris Fastfire will be a good choice. Will have to replace the breech plug as I am a fan of Blackhorn powder. Definitely worth the money if it shoots anywhere near as good as other reviews said it would.
Looks like a hoot to shoot, how's the accuracy?
As I said, I am hoping it shoots as good as the other reviews said it does:)
Well...Have you shot it yet? Results?
No to firing it. Most likely wont mess with it until spring. Our ML season ended and we are back in center fire mode. Still need to add some optics and install the sling studs as well.
