Had to clean my TC Omega last night after a trip to the range. After finishing, the brass jag had tightened up and didn't want to unscrew. Obviously I can use a couple of pliers but don't want to booger up either the brass jag or the aluminum rod. Any neat tricks out there?
Old piece of boot leather, impregnated with pitch or rosin, will pad your vice and plier jaws, and grab the workpiece.

GTC
I buy small diameter (just fit 10-32 threads) O-rings of about 3/64" thick of heavy durometer, buying them in bulk for pennies at a time from a hydraulics wholesaler. Works slick!

But one can also make their own washer out of thin leather to do the same thing.

Put either between rod and jag - or other accessories - and you'll never need pliers again.

Thanks guys. Used my arrow removal tool to hold the rod and then used the leather (without rosin) to get the jag loose, only a few scuffs!
