Starting to Iron out the details for a family (wife, two young adult children)to Prince Of Wales island in June. (Scouting mission, hope to move there someday) the plan is to fly from Seattle to Ketchikan and spend a couple days there. Then take the ferry over to POW. As I understand it there are places to rent vehicles and gear for exploring the island. What are some of the can’t miss things to see and do on the island? Also, any recommendations for a fishing charter?

Lots of Forest service cabins to rent. Many you can drive to or close to.

I had a good time there. Rented a car in klawock, drove to hydaburg. Dodged a bunch of fkn deer and made it there alright. 12-14 hour days, wrenching on their water plant with a crew. Ate deer/mayo/pilot bread, breakfast lunch n dinner. Rained every fkn day.

Coupla folks heard I was a dog musher, so lots funny questions about ill housepets, haha!

There's a lot of ass in Hydaburg, unfortunately, it's all on one gal.

Pretty sure you have to cross Fubar Cr. to get there. This stream was renamed in 2011 to show respect for the Haida folks in Hydaburg and beyond, but when I was working down there is was named Fubar.

Hydaburg is a den of addiction and criminality.

OP

I'd check on car rentals now before going any further. They may already be booked up on POW.

I take my kids down to hydaburg for sporting events when they host. There is a great group of people working in the schools and coaching. They have there problems in the community like most small remote towns do in AK. I have very positive interactions with lots of people from that town.

There’s always a few decent people around. I mean, Lot had a house in sodom right?

It’s neat when you go to the little store in Hydaburg because you get to experience the perspective black people in Alabama had during Jim Crow. I was once told that the store for people like me was in Klawock.
