Leave St. Louis tomorrow for a brown bear hunt with Scott Mileur. I will be hunting Karluk Lake. Scott just got this area in addition to having the Red Lake area. Booked over 2 1/2 years ago. Took that long to save the money. Will update when I get back.

You'll have a great hunt with Scott. He and I work closely together. He's an awesome guy and a good guide. You're definitely in good hands. Have fun and enjoy it. You're going to receive an education, that's for sure. Best wishes and let us know how it all turns out.

According to Kodiak ADF&G they have only sealed 4 hides so far this year... which is low for the time. Normal year they seal a total of 200 between spring and fall.

Hides all look good so far, which is my big worry as I head down to hunt the last two weeks of the season which ends May 15.

Got back on the 30th. Killed a 9'-4" squared, 28 1/8" skull. Got him on the 18th. Flew back to Red Lake to hunt with my friend for the remainder of his hunt. He killed a smaller bear on his 11th day. Think the thought of going home empty handed was wearing on him. Lots of small rubbed bears at Red Lake where he was hunting.
