Some buddies and I are putting together a run to the Koyukuk this fall for a moose hunt. If we are successful we were hoping to get our meat cut and wrapped before hitting the road. Any reputable meat cutters in Fairbanks? I've only found Delta meat co. in Delta Junction using google and their site says up to a month turnaround time.... Thanks.

I doubt you'll find anyone that will turn it around in less than a month during the hunting season. Delta Meats is the only place I trusted when I used to live up there...too many bad stories about other places.
Check with Peterbilt to see if he is bringing his reefer semi again.

Process it at home.
Thanks 'Bender. But I would guess that anyone who's hunting the Koyukuk and wants meat processing done in Fairbanks is likely boating it up himself since the only place you can fly it out is from Galena to Anchorage via Everts air. To get it from Galena to Fairbanks it still goes to Anc, then is trucked to Fairbanks. I'll also guess that B Johnson is a resident not looking to ship to the 48.

Also, I think the reason Delta meats has a month turnaround is because that's where many people from Fairbanks take their meat. 2 legit is really the man who is in the know on Fairbanks proccessors. Paging Randy!

Thanks 379. We are residents. We have all the stuff to cut/wrap back at home in SE, just hoping to get it done and frozen before the long drive back so it's easier to get home without spoilage.

I found an outfit in Haines we might check with to see what they have for turnaround. Could possibly hot foot it down there and then catch the ferry from there when done.

There used to be ( many years ago) a guy just off the Richardson highway in the North Pole area and I think the store on Badger Road.

If Randy doesn't chime in maybe AKMtnHtr knows/remembers.
sorry so late responding

late highlight, (freakin ironbender stil stuck in the 80's wearing his Napolean Dynamite Afro) (grin)

believe McPeaks is what you're referencing Bob, they've been up and down over the years

I cut and wrap my own

but if I don't want to do my own burger and sausage (like year before last)

I drive the stuff down to Delta (and NO not just to break bread with Vern, though that in itself makes the trip worthwhile)

just don't trust anyone other than Delta to do or handle my moose meat

sad deal that, wish there was someone closer I felt good enough about to recommend, but I don't

guess if I were forced to use a commercial processor here in FBKS, I'd use Interior Fish processors on the corner of Davis and Peger right by the animal shelter (how convenient huh?)

but you've been forewarned I've had both good and bad results from them in many years past

maybe they have stuff lined out ok now, don't know for sure

but I make the trip to Delta or just plan on doing it myself
