I am not sure this is the right place for this.
I am wondering if anyone has used the old Barnes original bullets. I have a box of .375 350 gr. and a box of 300 gr .338 I am thinking of trying them on moose or grizzly but I am not sure of their construction. Voice your opinion.

I've never used them but as a cup core bullet I'm guestimating the 375 will be pushing the 350 gr 2200-2300 fps so won't be overly stressing it, and the 338 with the 300's is going to be down in the 2300-2400 fps range so again not overly stressing the bullet. Properly placed they should kill just fine.

if you put those bullets where you intend, you're gonna be just fine

Used the 250 gr 338 .049's in my 340, work just fine. Muddy

I used the 250 gr Barnes Original (B.O.) factory loads in my 300 Win just before I started handloading. Here's the one and only B.O. I recovered. 200 gr from same 300 Win. (#2 in photo) About 75 yds into a big old blacktail dead broadside. Not a lot of penetration. When it pancakes, it tends to limit penetration

Killed a big caribou bull with a .049 250gr .358 out of my Whelen. Broadside 212yds. Dropped him at the shot, wound showed no signs of bullet breakup, 1.5" exit.
Not the best bullets for high speeds but I like them better than Corelokts and powerpoints.

Well I only have 50 of each so they won't last long. And I bet they are harder to find than hens teeth. But I would like to try them on moose but big bears I will stick to controlled expansion.

Used the Speer GS 275gr (C & C) on a yearling moose at 16 yards.. Spine shot from in front, just under the chin. You can imagine the rest.. Might have been a little "overkill" on that particular moose, which might have gone all of 550 lbs, liveweight. smallest 15 month old spike I've ever killed.

Either of those Barnes bullets should do just fine, properly placed, on ANY NA game animal.

Well, excepting that 12 gauge slug, also on an average sized "yearling" spike moose at about 35 yards broadside. Full penetration, no expansion. None needed!

Either of those Barnes bullets should do just fine, properly placed, on ANY NA game animal at any reasonable range (say, 300 yards).

I have also taken caribou with my 35 whelen I used nosler 225 gr hunting ballistic tips very effective.

The first and last 225 NBT I used in my 358 Winchester blew up on a red fox, scattering the jacket just beyond the animal in a ball of fur as well as lead particles (and fox bits) all around on the snow. Fox was very dead, but so was the bullet. Most NBTs I've used have worked well; not sure I would trust a bullet so heavy which comes apart on an animal so light.

Nice collection of bullets.
All of my NBT were the thicker jacket (Game Hunting style bullet) in 225 gr. Of course I am not aware of amy varmint bullets for .358 cal rifles. I have not recovered any of them. Did you stitch up the holes in that fox pelt.

The bullet entered his mouth cutting a vole he was holding in half. It exited out the top of his back raking a large hole right across the shoulder area and rib cage. Fur was everywhere; heart was exposed and still beating inside. The area looked like a bomb had gone off in a pillow factory; hide was not salvageable. I never trusted that bullet after it came undone at those mundane speeds hitting such a light target.

Well, there you go again blaming the bullet when it actually killed two animals. If the vole hadn't been involved I'd have said the NBT failed - but - we all know how tough those rodents are.
