I plan to bring the family to AK for the summer of 2016.

I plan to take the AK Marine Ferry system from Prince Rupert, BC up to Haines.

Along that route, I'd like to get off the ferry and camp ~2-3 days per location for about 3 locations.

Can yall provide a recommendation on which ports to stay in?

Presently targeting: Ketchikan, Petersburg, Sitka and Juneau. Are those good spots to target? if not, can yall offer alternatives?

any help would be appreciated.

For Juneau, I'd do Auke Rec area or Mendenhall Lake Campground. Those are both USFS run. State Parks has 3 nice cabins you can rent at Eagle Beach. Book in advance.

sorry, I was asking for recommendations on the ports to pick, not actual camping spots.

if you could stay at only 3 of the various ports on the AK ferry system, which would yall recommend out of:

or would you recommend we target other locations?

the book I've been reading makes it sound like all of these are pretty great. Sitka appears a bigger challenge to get to/from.

I'm dragging a camper, fwiw.
