Trying to send my pickup and 4-wheeler south to Mt. Prices seem a little ridiculous. One shipper said he'd look into produce haulers going south. Anybody have insight with this or other possibilities?

Thanks
Those guys making the run from the states to Fred Meyers ,will haul stuff, they are in Fred's parking lots waiting to unload...I've known of a whole house full of stuff and a car...1000.00....
I know it's expensive. A buddy is in the business trucking mostly livestock all of the continent. He has hauled horses, cattle, pets, a [bleep], a cub (J3), atvs, motorcycles etc. to and from Alaska all the time. It isn't cheap.

Edited: WTH this site bleeps out [bleep] shortened?

Dang, I used the long version and it still bleeps it out?????

For the record, my friend hauled a pet ch1mp down from AK to the 48.
Might pencil out to sell and buy new.

Ya, keep going back and forth on which is easier/cheaper. I can send personal stuff pretty cheap through the Gear Shed, in town here, to Washington. Just have to find a rig there.

What's the Gear Shed?
Horizon let us ship a little Jap car (suzuki SX4) from Kodiak to Virginia in a 40 ft sea container. We filled the other part with HHG. I don't know if they would do that for a truck from Homer, but I was amazed they let us do it.

That's a local marine/fishing supply place...Kachemak Gear Shed, located in Homer. They supply commercial fishing gear to the area (and state). I don't know, but would imagine they utilize back-haul services to offset the cost of otherwise running empty, something the airlines also do.
I figure coming south should be cheaper than going north. It is cheaper for me to take my truck and trailer to Ketchikan on the ferry out of Bellingham with 4 people and a private cabin than it is to have it barged up.
Look at how little the ferry actually saves in distance, and for how much. I have done it both ways and ferry is a great ride, but the road pencils out better.

There are a few ferries that cross the Gulf, but they are even more expensive and you only add the really bad part of the trip...
3 years ago when we moved back to MI, we went through a moving company in Wasilla. It cost 3500 to send our truck down. It arrived way before schedule.

Best deal I ever of like this was a college friend (a long time ago!!). She had worked BLM firefighting all summer, but was headed out for the winter after fire season wound down some. Stopped by to farewell her buds just as a Herc was unloading supplies. WeeeeelllllL! 5 hours later she and her car were in Denver. Free. And she had caught up on some sleep

SWEET!
