Thanks! I read Milek as a kid and am enjoying these old articles. Maybe why we always have 1 or 2 .25-06s along on our antelope forays....my son's stoked with a 120 Speer and H4831 smile
I enjoyed the article! Thanks for sharing..

Great article. I’ve read that the closest relative to the pronghorn is the giraffe. Truly a unique and amazing animal.
Thanks for posting more Bob Milek works. He was a favorite of mine, and really had a gift for relating his experiences to us. He may have even had something to do with the fact that I own both a .25-06 and a .257 Weatherby. Shot my first antelope in Wyoming back in 2003 with the .25-06 and shortly thereafter, I remember looking skyward and thinking of Mr. Milek.
He was a favorite writer of mine.
Loved Milek and all the old time Shooting Times scribes. I have just completed a Mauser in 25-06 for a future Wyoming antelope hunt.
Definitely one of my top three of all time. Recently emptied out a storage space that I had for 15 years. I had several hundred old magazines from the early '80s-mid '90s that I've been sorting through and culling. I've been re-reading a lot of Bob's old articles and amazingly could remember some of the commentary like I had just read them the day before. He died way too soon, 59. I remember pictures of him looking very gaunt, before we knew he was dying, and even back then I knew it was not good.
Milek was great! Agreed he left us way too soon. He was a 25 everything fan. He was one of the writers that made me want to try all of the 25s. Still working on that as I am looking for a 250 Savage now.

25-06 is a fantastic round for rock chucks thru Speed goats and at times a smidge more given an ethical scenario. IMHO
I’m a huge fan of the .25-06! My current and only is a semi-custom Remington 700 with a Leupold VX-3HD 4.5-14x40mm CDS on top!
Milek was inspirational re the 25-06. I took my first couple of pronghorn with handloaded 115 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. Was anticipating a long shot, but those first two were each at about 160 yards.

Rifle is the Remington 700 CDL with a 6x Leupold. It's been great for mule deer, pronghorn and coyotes.
