I went out shooting with my 2 new(old) winchesters today.
Cooler than hell. The 32/20 (1892)is great fun and really plenty accurate for pop can extermination.
The 30/40 krag 1895 SRC is a very cool rifle. Built like a tank and acurate too, and I mean acurate.
With the fatory military ladder sights it did way better than I thought it would.
Only problem is that with the 180 grain RN sierra I was shooting I was 8 to 10 inches high at 50 Yards.
I picked a box of the hornady 220 grain RNs and that may well help alot but I would want no more than 2 or three inches high at 50. for 150 yard shooting.(or am I wrong.)
The front sight blade is pined in , and I am wondering if any body knows where I might get a tall one I can file down ?
thanks !

Numrich used to have inserts for front sights.
Not too big a job to make one up.
Neat guns!
Good Luck!

What I have done before is use a nickel. You'll have to thin it a bit with a file to fit the slot. Then file it to the shape desired, drill the hole for the pin. Its fairly soft, easy to shape, won't rust, but does tend to get lost on a bright background.
thank you guys,
Numrich , I think I have a catalog here someplace, And even after buying the old winchesters, I can afford to use a nickel or two.
