I've been searching, but haven't found the best easiest method for making 257 Roberts brass. Actual 257 brass can be hard to find. Is it better to use 6mm brass and neck up, or get 7x57 and neck down? Less fuss is preferred.

If all goes well, I'll be trading for a 77 Ultralight. Just need some brass. I guess the other option is factory Roberts ammo.

4th point !! I had a 257 and sold it. I still have some new brass and some fired stuff and some loaded with 100 gr Nosler BT. It is about bed time now but I will find it all tomorrow and get back with you if you are interested ?? I had bought 100 new rem brass at one time so some where I should have close to that.

Form the major web sites, I have had NO problem getting 257 Roberts brass...I use it for loading for my 6.5 x 57 Brass....

I don't shoot the Bob at present. Have in the past and its one my to-do list again ..... At least 5 companies make .257 Roberts hulls. I'd be patient until I found some! (even if they're seasonal).

I have made it from both 6mm Rem and 7/57 but generally just buy new 257 Roberts brass from one of the several sites that have had it available in the recent past. I don't know about today but have had no problem getting it as recently as 2 months ago.

Order the correct brass online. It's everywhere.

If I had to neck up or neck down, I'd go 6mm. There really isn't a good reason to do that though, just order winchester Roberts brass.

When I got my .257 AI I bought several bags of RP brass and it has treated me well.

Before that I'd talked about necking down premium (most likely Norma or RWS) 7x57 but am now glad I didn't take that extended trip around the barn.

The RP has served me very well, but I just noticed that Nosler is now offering it in their custom line. I'm definately going to keep my eyes on the shootersproshop web site for some blems of THAT!

Here is what I have...
60 new
14 once fired, primed with winch primers
6 once fired
and 30 new cases loaded with Nosler 100 gr BT.
this makes a total of 100 RP cases
I can't remember the powder charge in the loaded rounds but it is what I was shooting in my M70 featherweight. $45 shipped sound about right ??? Graffs & son is getting $28 plus about $5 handling for 50 cases of RP.

Easiest way I found, and I only just found this while I was at Cabela's a couple hours ago, is to pick up one or more of the bags on the shelf.

If you're in northcentral PA. this weekend, the Pennsdale gun show has several guys selling brass at a fair price, and they always have Roberts brass, and many times the Winchester +P. I made it for my first .257 from 7x57 brass, and its still going strong, but it's much easier to just buy it, as MZ5 said.

I had better luck finding brass locally than online. Unfortunately it doesn't look like I'll be getting the rifle. We'll see what happens there.

I did not see 'out of stock' at able or midway.

Either is OK (I've done both)\, but I prefer to go from .24 to .25 than .28 to .25.

Since I don't have a Bob anymore, I'd sell the brass I have.
1 box of 100 R-P unfired, 2 boxes of 20 once fired R-P, 1 box of 20 once fired fed.

Unless I'm loading for a wildcat cartridge, I prefer to buy Lapua, Norma, or Winchester/Olin virgin brass with the correct headstamp if I can get it. The only regular production cartridge that I reload with brass that features incorrect headstamps is the 260, as Winchester/Olin has never made 260 cases, so I've used Norma and Winchester/Olin 243 brass to form 260 cases.
