I have been hit by the rifle looney bug, and am going to purchase one or the other in 7mm08. I know what the regular featherweight is (I have a couple), but have never seen a compact featherweight. Is the stock on the compact featherweight just shortened, or is it slimmed down all around ie thru wrist etc. Any help from those who have or have handled both would be appreciated. Winchester catalogue says it is shortened for smaller stature shooters, but doesnt specify. If its just shortened I can do that and have the 22 inch barrel instead of a 20 inch.(Better off hand balance) If its slimmed down all around I will sacrifice 2 inches of barrel for better handling for a younger shooter.
I have handled the compact fwt in the past, and do not recall the grip dimensions to be any different than the regular fwt.

Part of the challenge for small stature shooters is getting the grip close enough to the trigger. With a standard grip dimension, they end up having to cheat their hand forward to reach the trigger, thereby losing control of the grip. I built a kid stock in which I built up the front of the grip to solve that.
