Anyone with success using this powder in the 358. There is info with RL15 but not in the 225gr bullets. Thoughts?

I haven't tried it but it should work fine, though you might not be able to get quite as much velocity as with some other powders.

I normally use IMR4895 or TAC with 225's, and they're a little faster-burning than RL-15, but not by a vast amount. I would suggest trying IMR4895 starting loads and see what happens.

Also in looking at the books, I think I'd be stuffing it to the gills and compacting alot. Guess I'll need some new powders.

It wouldn't be too compressed with 225 Partitions, but TSX's and maybe even the Sierra GK might be a problem. Compression really doesn't hurt anything with extruded powders, but one reason TAC works so well in the .258 is it's a spherical powder, so is much denser than IMR4895 or RL-15. It doesn't compress much at all with the 225 Partition, which is what I load most in the .358.

TAC also happens to be reasonably available right now. I just had an 8-pounder show up via FedEx at my front door about an hour ago, and saw it in two stores yesterday.

Usually around 47-49 grains, depending on then the rifle, which typically gets in the neighborhood of 2500 in a 22" barrel.

Thanks JB and others for the replys, I'm just acquiring a lever 358 Browning, after downsizing my other levers, a 405, 30/40 and a 300 Savage I sold next to your booth in Bozeman a month or so ago. Just felt bad without one and the 358 should be fine for the Coast and will carry and swing right for my arms. I've got some Sierras now and hope to find some Partitions, they seem to be harder to get.

Looking to roll some .358s w stuff on hand for my Frontier: 180 Speer FP, TAC or Varget.

Would the above 47-49 grs. of either of those two powders boost a 180 upwards of 2,400 outta the snubnose?
