Can anybody tell me the specific model or version designation of this M700 stainless 7mm-08? It is old enough that it has the "traditional" trigger, not some recent variation. It has a charcoal grey "tupperware" stock, as can be seen in the pictures. It is a very nice rifle that belonged to my late father-in-law. Very accurate.

Paul,

I can't be of much help without seeing the barreled action and seeing the barrel profile, but you could call Remington with the serial number and they can give you the information you seek; with reasonable accuracy.

Remington made a Rynite stock and another tupperware stock that I can't recall. Perhaps one of the brighter forum members will be along shortly.

That's a stock. Where's the rifle?

I figured the stock would define it. The rifle is a standard BDL configuration.

Thanks, gents

What's a realistic price for it?

Is it a short action or long? What cartridge is it chambered for?

The OP stated in his original post the rifle is a 7mm-08.

That looks like the 700 BDL SS to me. I bought one of those in 280 back in the mid-90's. Sent it off to Hart for an accurizing and re-chambering to the Ackley version. They had nice smooth actions too.
