Will this work? One rifle I have the parkerizing seems to be on the soft side. Will there be any increase in durability or corrosion protection with DGS. Or is it a step backward reducing the porosity and ability to hold oil or wax on the metal?

Yes, that's exactly what it'll do. DGS increases the hardness of Cerakote, and it has an even greater effect on Parkerizing.

Thanks, now I just hope I can get all the lube out. Will try carb cleaner and maybe hot water and detergent first. Then alcohol to dry.
