What have the Campfire members found this powder to be good for? I had some given to me for Christmas but it seems to be too slow for many of the calibers I own.

I was thinking maybe in my 25-06, 7mm Rem. Mag. but other than this I am doubtful.

Suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

You might try it in your 7-mag with a heavy bullet..

I've used it when I had a 300 WBY. It worked well for me with 180 grain bullets.

I use it in a 270 WSM with 140 gr bullet. I get consistent
accuracy at 3150 fps. I agree with Hammerdown on heavier bullets in the 7mm mag

I might have to try it.

I have some that I used in my .264 win mag. It was pretty good, but not that much slower than the R 22 I had been using.

I was going to use some in my 25-06, but found IMR 7797 and never looked for anything else.

I have no doubt it would have worked though.

I use it in the 264 Win, 7mm Rem, 257 Weatherby and the 25-06. It works excellent in those and the WSMs...

Works for me in the 257 Wby.

So it's excellent in the WSMs ? Possibly the 300 WSM? Inquiring minds want to know.

It works great in the 416 Rigby with 400 gr bullets. It's accurate and gives a load density in the neighborhood of 100%, which supposedly helps keep bullets from moving under recoil. Data is available in the Swift manual.

Thanks guys. You have given me one more, the 300 WSM, which I have in the gun safe, to try.

On a whim grabbed an older bottle of RL-25, some 200 gr Partitions and a bag of new R-P brass, what I got was 3/4" groups and 2900 fps in my old pre-64 300 H&H, holy damn that was a sweet surprise!

I think that would work very well.

It's kinda nice when you get a good load right out of the gate.

Take care

Dang right, that old rifle has fired the 200 gr Partitions and SAF's with equal accuracy in the past, but, with H-4831 powder, glad I found a good use for that pound of RL-25 that's been on my load room shelf for 10+ years. grin

RL-25 is my go powder for 168's and 180's in my 7RM.

Since the 300 H&H and 300 WSM are virtually identical I will have to give that one a try.

It works well with my 7 mag and 160 Partitions.

I never tried it in my 300 WSM since 22 was fairly compressed. I've seen data for it though. Can't hurt to give it a shot with the heavies though.

It should do fine with the 200 or even 220 gr Partitions in your WSM, I shoot another pre-64 300 H&H with the 220 NPT's and an old receiver peep, they loaf along at 2750 fps, but Katy bar the damn door for whatever gets in front of one. wink

Used it in the 270 wsm and 7 RM but I switched to R26 for better temperature insensitivity and uniformity. It is slightly faster in most cases both burn rate and velocity.

The 270 WSM is the only case where R25 and R26 used the same charge weight for about the same velocity.

I use it in the 7 Rem Mag with 150's.

I have also used it in the 270 Winchester with 130's with great results, but loads were compressed.
Worked very well in a 7mm rem mag with 160gr. partitons and 162gr. Hornady btsp interlocks...
