Does Ruger make a 375 H & H? I just reviewed their catalog and couldn't find one. If Ruger doesn't make one, I suppose I am limited to a Winchester, Rem. Sucks, or CZ. Is my assumption correct? What are your pro's and con's of each? I am shoping. I saw a Winchester and it seems very barrel heavy. What think you ?

the Winchester is heavier than it needs to be. i've never had a CZ. the Remingtons are pretty easy to get field ready at 8ish pounds.

Ruger makes the Number One in .375 H&H, and used to make a version of their M77 bolt action in .375 H&H.

Now they make the Hawkeye in African and Alaskan versions in .375 Ruger, which has a little more punch.

The Ruger RSM 375 H&H was a tank and far better suited to the 416 Rigby and Lott.

The earlier BRNO ZKK 602's are nice 375's, a leaner, lighter version of the current CZ. They are out there if you look.

I would also recommend an Interarms Whitworth in .375 H&H. They're out there, on GunBroker and elsewhere. They feature CRF, express sights, sling attachment on a barrel band, commercial Mauser action, and other niceties.

My brother bought one last year off Gunbroker, complete with Swaro 1.5x4.5 scope, for $1300. Both of our guns shoot right at 1" with 300 gr Noslers and A-Frames.

I believe Mule Deer shoots a Whitworth too.

If you are dead set on a Ruger, I would take a good look at the Ruger Hawkeye, either African or Alaskan, in 375 Ruger.

I have an African model, in 375 Ruger, which now wears a McMillan stock. It is a great shooter, a hair over 9 lbs. with scope and rings, and slightly better MV than an H&H. With the McMillan stock, recoil is very manageable.

I looked at the CZ, Winchester, et al offerings before buying my Ruger. I chose it for several reasons:
CRF, American made, and lighter weight than anything else available in .375, regardless of flavor, and slightly better ballistics than the old H&H.

I'll second the 375 Ruger. Mine is an Alaskan with the laminate stock. Very easy to tote around, not any different than my Hawkeye 30-06. Super whamola on the power, and I particularly like the 20" barrel. I don't need to load mine to absolute max, so recoil is about like a heavy loaded 45-70. Perhaps it doesn't have the fun historic name associated with the cartridge, but dang if it ain't an absolute winner in the field.

Realizing you didnt ask, but Kimber makes/or made a couple nice lighter weight 375 H&H rifles, Caprivi was one and cant remember the name of the other, seems it may have had something to do with Alaska.

My nephew has a Whitworth in 375 H&H and it is one sweet rifle. It just seems that gun was built around that cartridge. Not all that heavy, but recoil is very mild and man does it shoot.

Yes my FIL has an Interarms Whitworth in .300 Win Mag. It is a quality built firearm, one in .375 would be great. I'm doing load development for him right now, first loads with minimal powder came in right at 1.3" I expect it will be better as I continue to work up.

After shooting his .300, I started looking for one in .375 H&H myself.

You could look for the Remington 798 which came in .375 H&H but had the mauser action so it is CRF.
