Is Magnum fill a must for this round or will standard fill hold up?

Their recommendation to me was for magnum fill on my 375 Ruger.
Thank you
I would go standard fill. Magnum fill stocks feel like a concrete block.

I have std. fill in both Micky and Borden-Rimrock stocks on P-64 Mod. 70s in .375H&H and have never had the smallest problem with them, or, the Browns, Mickys and Rimrocks on my P-64 .338s, also with std. fill.

I actually went with a Micky Edge MKX handle on my first original factory Brno ZG-47 in 9,3x62 and with the outstanding full bedding by Jan Kolenbrander, formerly of Martini Gunmakers, it shoots like a target rifle and is easy to pack around in BC mountain terrain.....NO issues, thus far and I seriously doubt that any will ever arise.

While, we all want the most rugged and toughest rifles we can obtain, there is a little matter of weight and, those who parrot the old bromide, "lose a little off your butt", are not always very experienced in packing a rifle, all day, every day in rugged mountain conditions.

So, I agree, the "heavy fill" is good for "elephant guns" and not needed for .375s, YMMV, of course.

I'd check with McMillan and their fill weight policy, but I do not believe you have any choice of using a standard fill with a 375 Ruger, I'm pretty sure that they only make those stocks with magnum fill in the action area.

McM says magnum fill for the 375 R; gave no other options.

I went with mag fill on this .375 Ruger. If you choose a slim stock design (that will fit the barrel contour) you can still keep it fairly light. From my understanding the mag fill is only in the action area so it isn't that much heavier (depending on stock design). This turned out right around 8lbs scoped...I think it would have been lighter but the dark earth stock color added several ounces of ugly:

Big time!

Side note, on my 338 WSM I have a Hunter Edge fill compact.

The issue may be the the under-sized recoil lug on the M77. Standard fill may not be strong enough.

I ordered a mcwoody classic for my 375 ruger alaskan. Looking forward to ditching the rubber hogue.
