Posted By: RogerD What's a CZ550 450 Rigby worth? - 09/20/14
I see prices all over the place from 2k to 3200 and I have a NIB one that I picked up and can't decide whether to keep it or sell it. Nice rifle.

I ask because this is the first CZ I have ever had my hands on. So I am unfamiliar with these rifles.

I am not sure what model the above is in that they have custom shop guns and standard guns. I paid around $1000 each for both of mine new and they are worth every penny. Really quality rifles. You can look on gunbroker. I think several places advertise them around $1100.
I did full length glass bed my 416 before shooting, which you may want to consider.
I thought it said 416 and just noticed it's a 450 so is the higher end gun. I think list is a little over $3k, but I have recently seen discounted NIB guns at Cabelas in .500 and .505 for $2400.

It can be confusing,atleast to me and the seller,as this was sold at the lower price mentioned above. If the higher price is close or even the mid price I will keep it because I couln't replace it for that. Thanks
The 450 Rigby is a .460 Weatherby without the belt. It is the higher priced version in the 2.5k range.
That's the custom range that they build in the US.

Over here (Australia) the standard CZ550 magnum in the more popular cartridges of 375H&H, 416Rigby, 458WM and 458Lott retail for just under $2,000.

The custom version (including 300H&H, 404J, 450Rigby, 500J and 505Gibbs) over here retails for about $4,200!!!

We seem to pay a bit of a premium over here for the CZs but they are still good value.

I have a friend with a CZ550 Custom in 450Rigby BTW. Very well finished and very accurate - shoots MOA, which I way more than you'll need for this cartridge. And it's way more recoil off a bench rest than I'd care to attempt.

I have another friend who has used his 416Rigby for plains game. I suppose you could also use the 450Rigby - certainly accurate enough for it.

(The differences between the standard CZ550 magnum and the custom are that the custom includes:
- American made and fitted barrel;
- American made and fitted stock, including bedding;
- Barrel mounted sling swivel;
- Recoil reducer fitted into the stock)
My sources tell me it is worth $12. Where should I mail the check? :-}

That's what I thought when I saw the rifle...but you never know.
4200 Geez Louise!

$12 bucks?? I feel lucky and you would feel real lucky! grin

This is my 2nd 450,so this one is a low priced backup grin

Poor Aussies get ripped off for everything they buy.
I filled up for $2.88 a gallon today, closer to 3 times that for what used to be a gallon over there.

Winchester Model 70's sell today in the US for the same price I paid 20 years ago in Oz.

Quite a disparity.

yeah but you can actually find a good CHEAP used vehicle over there.....no such thing here....it blew my mind looking in the paper and such while there just how cheaply you can get a decent used vehicle, even one with 4wd....im on foot at the moment back in Montana and am having a hell of a time finding transportation without spending a fair amount, and im not even being picky.....
I bought my custom shop 550 for $3700 here in Australia, fully optioned except a jewelled extractor, mine's in 505 Gibbs. I got a pretty good deal, except I will have to swap out the cross bolts to the Talley made ones, they look better.
The mercury recoil reducer works a treat, took it out and fired ONE shot with a 600gr Woodleigh, WOW, won't be doing that again any time soon. Huge difference in felt recoil with it removed. My only complaint, the recoil pad came loose after only 3 shots fired, had to remove it, fix the screw hole and reattach it. It's OK now.
I really like my rifle, will be taking it after Top End buff in a month, can't wait to smash some buff with it.

Cheers.
