Rabbits for sale

Kewt and Cuddly

Nutritious
I raised rabbits for ten years. Delicious, nutritious and tastse like.....Rabbit. Are yours hottentots? I raised Flemish giants. At eight weeks they dressed 5 pounds.
Rabbit is another of the many things our family ate when I was growing up. Good lean meat. Guinia fowl as well. Those birds were great watchdogs. Any strange car would cause them to make a racket. They were hard to raise however. The meat of the guinias were all dark if I recall correctly.
We have a farm leased and the next guy over has a flock of guineas. They are some entertaining birds. They drive my GSP crazy at times. One of their favorites is to fly up on a low tree limb, all 20 of them lined up, and taunt him just out of his reach.
I sat across the table at a seed corn meeting from a man that talked about picking up rabbits farm to farm. He had a fifth wheel trailer to haul the load of rabbits to, I think a packing plant in Tennessee. That is quite a drive from Iowa.
yummy.i miss having rabbits.we used to raise californians and new zealands for meat and rex for the pelts.
I'd like to get a few bunnies...this gives me an idea!
I found a ad in the local papper $2.50 or best offer for meat rabbits. I gave her a call and she said that she has about 20 of them but that somebody was coming to look at them first and that she will give me a call in the morning if there is any left. I Talked to her the next day and she said that the man came and said that thay were to cute to butcher so he didn't take any laugh Whell my uncle and I went over and looked at them and thay were pretty small only about 3 lbs live and that thay were about full grown and that thay are the polish variety. So I asked if she will take $1.50 each and she said sure so we took them all :)So sunday will be a bussy few hours. My uncle and I would like to raze a few of them but need to find out which ones would be best and grow a lot bigger laugh but ther shuld be no need to cook these for a long time thay shuld be nice and tender.
so, i'm just estimating or wondering. the rabbits yielded about a dollar a pound for dresed meat? i'm thinking the skin, guts, head , etc. after removal lowered the protein to abut 50 percent of live weight? i don't know, i'm just trying to learn. plus labor, of course.
