Hey guys,

I just picked up a set of the Green Pans with the Thermalon coating. Have you guys heard much about these?

I have to say they are the best pans I have ever used and couldn't be happier. They are 100% non-stick and they heat up incredibly fast.

One thing I noticed is that the company claims that if your non-stick pans ever loses the non-stick ability that the pan will act exactly like a cast iron pan. I don't know much about cast iron. What do they mean by this?

Also is there anyway for me to know if they pans are made out of cast iron?

I've cooked eggs in the pans a few times now and they come right out whole with a spatula. We've cooked several meals now and the pans heat up so darn fast and even and lids make a perfect seal.

Thanks

Tom
We just got one for the firehouse. They heat up quick because of the metal thickness. So far,,so good on the "non-stick" part, but I don't see it lasting long. As far as the cast iron claim,, no way. Why would a company make such a claim if their non-stick surface was so good??

couldn't be happier.

That's the most important.

Haven't used one and for my needs, probably won't.
all I know about 'em is that they are always being featured on the home shopping TV shows.

They claim that if you burn food repeatedly onto the surface that eventually the non-stick will wear away. They also say that occasionally for searing people can forget about the pan on the stove and basically the non-stick will cease to work.

So what is the typical treatment of a cast iron pan or pot? Again I've never owned cast iron cookware so I'm not familiar.

Thanks

I always wonder there that "non-stick" coating goes...

Thanks for the link I read through the post. This might be un-cool but sounds like cast iron is a lot of work. I also don't like the idea of not washing it with soap and having to heat to sanitize it.

So basically if my green pans loose the stick ability I have to season them with oil? Does that mean just fill with oil and heat them? Then no washing with soap?

I'm not overly worried about the coating on the green pan is is silica based. All naturally occurring elements.
