Really not many ways to cook a lobster. Steam/boil, BBQ or lobster thermidor. I prefer steamed/boiled. Cooked live. At least 2 pounds. Just with melted butter.
How to eat:

My wife would buy the females exclusively for the roe. You can distinguish the males from females by looking at the tail upside down.

For those that don't live along the coast you can mail order from lots of suppliers in Maine *( Just google ). They pack in ice and newspaper and ship overnight live. Unfortunately the shipping is as expensive as the lobster. I shipped two 2 1/2 pounders to my daughter for her birthday. They came live. She wouldn't wait for her husband to come home from work, she cooked hers immediately and devoured it.
Spiny lobsters are not the same. And don't have claws. They come from the tropics.
Way back in the past, when I as working, the company had an annual lobster picnic in the woods on 90 acres of property with a stream. We invited customers, suppliers, insurance agents, employees. We had it catered by an outfit. Somewhere around 30 people. Side dishes were Quahog clams and fresh sweet field corn. *( And lots of booze ! ).
My wife loved the ocean. We took a two week vacation and slowly progressed up the coast from New Jersey to Maine, stopping each night with an ocean view. Up in Maine they were having price wars among lobstermen. In some towns they parked trucks on the mall, grassy town center squares and sold off the back. Some prices dropped under $4.00. Per pound. We would buy lobsters and take them to the motel to cook.
Fortunately there is a big surplus of Maine lobsters and the price wars are still going on.
