Buddy of mine emailed this pic of yesterday's harvest. He found it awhile back and covered it with leaves away from prying eyes to let it mature.

Almost a shame to put that beauty in a frying pan.

i picked a few monsters in my yard last week. i'm not finding many this year.

these are in a 12" bowl,tops are bigger around than a beer can.

A beauty for sure, but not as big as it appears do to his full arm extension. That's an old trophy photo trick.

Wrong assessment. I saw it later on in the day. He's my neighbor as well and loves to rub my nose in it when he get's lucky in the woods.
none here. i've never found a hot spot but i've found a few patches. none have produced this year. might go out today and try one more time.

Speaking of big morels......

Kelly Young picked it along the railroad tracks south of Walnut, Iowa. The Iowa DNR says they've never recorded one this big. It weighs 1.5 lbs, it's 15 inches high and 14 inches around.
