Did a slow 5 hour smoke/cook on this pork roast after a thorough injection of creole butter and lightly rubbed with a mixture of spices. Then glazed with roasted pineapple habanero sauce.

Served with fresh corn on the cob, hobo tators and cucumbers.

Looking good! Do you like that cooker?
Posted By: Rooster7 Re: Pork roast on the Traeger - 08/14/16
Yes and no. It's convenient for long cooks but it's not always easy controlling the temp swings they tend to have.

I do a lot of smoking and grilling on a charcoal grill as well and I like that better for shorter cooks.
That looks awesome, Rooster.

Do tell about the Creole butter and Pineapple Habanero Sauce.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Mine did the same thing. Called their CS and a simple program change fixed it.

Love my Traeger. Set it and forget it.

Great marinade, or baste, but also great with a cheese platter.

Thanks Paul. Yes that is it and both the raspberry chipoltle sauce and the pineapple habanero can be found at Sam's Club.

I'm at work now so can't post pics but here is a link to the creole butter.

Yes, I think so. I had their CS on the phone and they directed my dumb azz laugh

Stuck a toothpick in a hole on the box and all was well. So EEZY that 284LUVR could do it. grin

Call them.

I changed it from the factory setting of P-2 to P-1 and then to P-0 after reading a bit on the net about it. It helped but still not where I want it. I'll give them a call next time I cook. Thanks!

Yes that is it. Dang good stuff.

I smoked 55 pork loin chops cut 1" thick for my new son in-laws grooms supper 2 fridays ago using the same method and they were a huge hit!
Could I get more information on resetting the program on a Treager?

I have the Big Texan, and the temps shift up and down constantly.

It is a great BBQ, but even temps would make it even better.

Thanks! Virgil B.

Called Traeger CS and got instructions on re-setting the temp program. Sounds like a simple process.

Yeah, I went from nearly having another stroke and keeping the .45 close by to smooth sailing. Set it and forget it.

Amazon has pellets from http://www.cookinpellets.com with free shipping if you buy two bags. Love the hickory. I've used about 120 lbs. of them and will be ordering again soon.

Glad it worked out for you.
