Last night my wife and I ate BBQ'd elk burgers and tonight we'll have her elk meat loaf. I've always like elk, but this year's kill has been especially great. I killed this guy several weeks ago(a 5x6) on my 74th birthday, maybe that's why he's eat'n so good. After the pain of skinning, quartering, and hauling the animal to the nearest two track, I swore it would be my last. But that was then, right now I'm thinking maybe I've got one more elk hunt in me.

The harder you have to work, the better they taste wink

Elk is some of the best game meat there is. Last trip to Colorado a couple of the guys managed to kill two bulls at the absolute bottom of the steepest canyon in the area we were hunting. After all the work of skinnning, qurtering and hauling the meat up out of there we decided to name the area "Bonehead Ridge" so called because if you killed an elk there you definately were a bonehead.
