and with Christmas approaching and no other ideas a quick response would be appreciated. Obviously in this realm the objective is pictures. I looked at HP's, Big Brother?, a Canon, and some Epsons today and was amazed at all the bells and whistles. Not being online, I could not surf up hours of reviews there in the stores. She's not interested in blue tooth with phones, I or whatever pads, scanners/copiers, or instant up/downloads with Face Book or whatever. Focus (pun intended) is simply a superior print at the end.

It will be home use with no commercial desires, but she of course wants quality. Laser or Ink Jets? Your thoughts on brands, models, features, media, paper size, etc would be appreciated.

Thanky you,

Costco photo service is very good, quick and quite inexpensive. No expensive inks to buy or printers to maintain. Pix can be picked up or mailed back to you.

Yes, we do use Costco's services and their products are great. That avenue, however, involves a 260 mile drive or 5 days of waiting for deliveries.

Only one I would get anymore. I have a Canon Pixma 9000 MKII, super printer! It's 13 wide and I like my photo's from it a lot. You cam make any custom size you want. It's not made anymore IO don't think but the replacement is the Pixma Pro 100. Lot better price than the 9000 too, $398 at B&H. I also have a Canon iP 100 portable printer. Prints up to 8 1/2x11 and I can use it on site pretty much any where I go. I have a 400 watt inverter that plugs into my cigarette lighter. I've had four Epson's. The first was an R300, 8 1/2x11 and was a good printer. Quit feeding on me after about three years and I replaced it with an R260, didn't work well at all so I took it back and got another, it wasn't any better. From them I went to a H&P 8 1/2" printer. Really had a lot of good luck with it so I got a 13" wide H&P. Very noisy printer but printed nice photo a couple years and died. I could print 13x44 with it. There was one other Epson printer I ha, little Picture Mate. Quit on me with less than 100 4x6's through it. Canon doesn't make a 13 wide that will print up to 44" long or I would get it. Come to think, I think I saw a new 9000 MKII on Amazon. For me, I'm with Canon for good! I didn't tell you, the 9000NKII I cannot hear running. The only I can tell it's running is to see the paper feeding or from a distance it does rodck the pable it's on just a bit.

You must use the Costco in Bend? 75 mi for me so I seldom go there. When I do I got with my son that live's in Bend and has a Costco card.

Just another though. Depeending on how much you want to spend, Canon has an 8 1/2 wide Pixma iP 7220, it's $99 and I wouldn't think twice about it. or in the other direction is the Pixma Pro 1, $1000. I suspect the 13 wide's come with free shipping. I think it was about three days from order to receiving.

DonFischer:

I've looked at the Pixma Pro on line and am giving it serious consideration. None around locally though where I could examine output.

Thanks for the feedback,
