That's a classic!! Some pics just scream "Graduation slide-show!!"......
It seems like the "stealth posting" just has to be done sometimes....
Another track photo...
Don't have many from Spring ball yet this year, but here's a couple of mine.
Great pictures by the way.

Thank you! That's my golden boy. I have coached him since he was three years old and he absolutely loves baseball. This is our first year with kid pitch and he's had some questionable calls, but he doesn't let the umpire dictate how his game will be played, be focuses on playing catch with the catcher and throws hard four seamers.
Good shots! Glad the lens worked! The first hurdle shot was with that lens and the second was a Canon 100-400mm L. I can't tell much difference but my skills are pretty basic
Nebraska, Where is your Central?
My boy played for Central Christian College in Mcpherson Kansas. Started all 4 years mostly second base and catcher, but played every position in those 4......
Are you shooting the baseball through the fence?
I use the 70-200 2.8 and shoot through the fence. Just rest my fingers on the edges so I don't scratch the lens but still get close enough to have it disappear.....

I love that focal length. Portraits, sports, ect...that is a well rounded focal length for sure.
There are two lenses that I have with me all the time.
24-70mm F/2.8
70-200mm F/2.8
Currently saving for;
14-24mm F/2.8
50mm
85mm
300mm
I wondered if you were close enough that the wires would disappear....
Maybe you can crop them out, Depending on the focal length and if high enough, perhaps?
When you're up against the fence you don't even see the wire
Those might be among the last pictures of an Omaha Public School interscholastic sporting event that you will be able to take. Big budget problems in Omaha may mean program cuts.
I'm all about investing in education but they definitely need to cut in several areas and start spending our $$ wisely going forward.
Pow!
Pow!
Outstanding pic! Eyes open, dust coming off the glove and good lighting.......should be up on the wall!!

Finally, the crew of boys in my bullpen I dubbed the "The Hurt Squad!"
I have never worked more closely with any of the boys until this year. These four had all of my spare time dedicated to pitching and they were a constant force on the mound upsetting batter after batter. I couldn't be prouder of their accoplishments and with the Summer season coming hot, we are really amped up about the new team sponsor and uniforms.
Shane, my 17 year old, going 'Yard' in Havre, Montana a couple weeks ago. After I snapped the pic, I looked up and saw the left fielder running towards the wall..fun times!
Delivering strike three...
Shane was 16 here. Pitching in a live game at Gonzaga University's Prospect camp, last summer.
Delivering a circle change at a tournament in Williston, North Dakota last summer.
You could say I'm pretty proud of him...;)
It is great to be able to document the memories of our children's activities. Nice photos...
Yes they are, with the exception of the stones. Those are CZ I'm betting.

That is weird for little league?
Rings? For a championship? No, that is very common practice now days.
Back in the day, they distributed trophies with granite bases and plastic statues, but now rings are very common. My son hasn't taken his off since receiving it.
The ones that he has from other tournaments were much smaller. I'll see if I can't take a pic of them tonight.
That is interesting. I don't have any kids in baseball/softball though.

Thanks! Same to you!
That young man in the background just singed a letter of intent with Gonzaga for baseball....His fastball tops 93mph. Great bunch of kids playing for this traveling team.

Great picture.
Great shots! The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM is on my radar for next acquisition, great lens.

These are some great photos!
The photos in the thread show acumen in managing exposure but, the framing and DoF management are areas that could take the shooter to the next level. In the industry the question is "what's the most important part of the photo?" Its the background. Clean up the background through angles or DoF , pay attention to the story telling, two persons and a ball.
Shane's first start of the fall league at Rapid City, South Dakota...
A little cross country to add to the mix.
If you have kids, a nice camera/lens is one of the best investments you can make.......you guys will enjoy these great pics for generations!!
I enjoyed the photos of the kiddos in sports.
Thanks for posting them.
Take care
Another group cross country shot
Nice. You're making the Fremont X-Country team proud!!
Rented a Canon 70-200L IS f4 for today's meet. Just wanted to try it out as I have always read really good review about how sharp it is and this meet allows for spectators to be pretty close, so 200 mm is plenty. I shot the last meet at this course with a 18-135 USM
So, after shooting the meet with the 70-200L f4, I am not sure that I can tell much difference between that and my own 70-300 USM II. Now, in my hands, it may certainly be user limited. I will say that the 70-200 is a great lens to use. Fast focus, nice weight and balance. All internal focusing. I plan to review the photos some more, side by side. The constant f4 was nice as late afternoon approached, did not need to crank the ISO to maintain a fast shutter speed
A few random thoughts. The most important part of a sports pic? The background. "two faces and a ball" , story telling.
The last cross country pic is the best of the bunch.
Any shots of the surfing? ^^
