Ok I'm looking for a long range hunting round that is chambered in a t/c barrel. I'm thinking either a 300 win mag or a 338 federal. it will be used mainly on deer and hopefully on elk.I already have a 7mm rem mag, sholud i look for a new caliber or just get a better long range scope for what I have?

I have a thing for the 338 Federal, but it's not a long range round. Out to 400+ yds the final result would probably be the same, but the 300 WM definitely wins the long range comparison.
