I heard through the grapevine that Berger is coming out with a 168 grain .277 cal hybrid . That should wake up the 270 WSM.
Could be fun...grin

Any word on BC?

...or required ROT??
I'd expect at least 9, maybe quicker? I just got a 9 T Brux. Can't wait to get my paws on some. Be fun to give them a go for spring bruins.

Sweet. I would love to see what the twist required and BC of the new 168.

For what it's worth they are coming out with a 170gr. not an 168 and they say 8.5 twist.
Thx, any idea about BC?

Note these are estimates, actual performance is typically within +/- 5% of estimates.

Topshot,
If the extra long bullet doesn't cause a copper fouling problem on long strings of fire typical of match shooting, there's no reason it wouldn't be a good choice for a match bullet. Berger's match and hunting bullets are made to the same precision standards.

As for an upper speed limit, that remains to be seen. Considering it's made on the same thickness jacket as the 180 VLD hunting, it should be able to withstand velocities similar to the 180 VLD's max limit. I'm not even sure what that is; would estimate 3300-3400...?

Many thx

Now the annual 270 barrel sales will double to two smile

Oh, this news is enough to make me want to build a fast-twist .270. .700 BC with what I would guess to be 2700 or so fps should be an interesting long-range toy.

It's no bueno if it requires more than standard factory supplied twist. I can't believe there can't be something better than the 150s which have lower BC than the 130 6.5s. They should be able to come up with a reasonable bullet that is in the .630 range.

My thoughts also.. Bitch you gotta retool for a single bullet with 19 trillion 270's out there....

Factory 280 looks better and better.. But that goes without sayin' smile
