I just got a Sako 7mm mag synthetic and stainless and am looking at scopes. I have Leupold and Nikon on my other rifles but am curious about this 4-16x50 Burris Eliminator 3 with rangefinder and ballistic compensation...is anyone using/ happy with optics, performance? Other choices I'm considering are Swarovski, Sheppard, Zeiss

Have you looked at some of Vortex's offerings?

gunshotbob-Haven't used any Burris products but like you I was interested in the rangefinder feature. That would be a plus. I wait for product reviews.

I have spent some time playing with a buddy's. Not impressed. A nightforce with a velocity reticule and a g7 range finder is a hard combo to beat. At least that's the way I have gone after loosing my swaro. laserguide on a recent trip. Loosing the swaro sucked big time! I need a cheaper hobby!

I think these scopes are interesting myself and I wonder if this is the technology that will eventually be the "new normal" of rifle scopes.

I just wonder about the quality of the glass used in them. I have looked through a friends fullfield 2 and it was ok but nothing terribly impressive. I own a signature, 2 sig selects, and a Black Diamond. The glass in these upper level Burris scopes is very impressive, especially for the money. I just don't know which level of glass is being used in the Eliminator Series.

BCJR is on the money. I have not used the Burris, but have read reviews by other users, particularly some of the looong range guys over at longrangehunting.com.
I use the G7 and nice little Nightforce 2.5-10,with NP-R2 reticle. I have the rangefinder set to give corrections in MOA, which can quickly be compensated for with the 2 MOA reticle.
Another plus for the NF is turret function. The Nightforce scopes I have used adjust a true .25 MOA and return to zero.

yep the np reticles are a perfect match for the system. I like the velocity ret, as well. they provide quick solution when the firing solution comes up "even" or when your shot really isnt that far say 400 to 600. Beyond that just turn the knob if you have time , which you usually do. no more pda makes the price tag on the g7 worth it as well as its ranging ability , which is hard to beat compared to whats available today. We ranged and shot a whitetail in the rain back home in Idaho at 1270 yrds(compensated for angle) with the g7 this year.Scope was a NF. Np-1. 300 ultra 230 gr Berger at 3010fps.
