I just ordered a Leupold 4.5-14x40mm AO, with the CDS for Rem 700 257 Roy. Its been wearing a Leupold 6-18x40 with the target knobs. I am carrying it to MT this year as my back up rifle, so the long target knobs have to go. If it weren't for the 5% chance of a low light situation, a 6.5-20x40 would get the nod from me.

And Yes We will hike to get above them Enjoy!
It stickers around $65o with the cds at Cabela's, cashing in my points really helped soften the blow.

The AO is a personal preference for me, some folks don't need it. I had a fixed objective 4.5-14 that I got in a package deal last year. I put it on the hood of my truck and watched my neighbors horses some 600yds away, the parallax was an issue for me. I set the AO for 200yd or so. If I have time to adjust it fine, if not I am in the same boat as the fixed objective folks are. I paid for that option smile
I put a Vortex Viper 4x16x44 on my Fiance's Rem 700 .257 she really likes the scope and is deadly to 600 yards with it, I am loading 115 gr Berger VLD for it

Yeah. Just start out with a Cooper and be done with it.

I am finally getting around to giving you an opinion on your questions. Mine had a Swarovski z5 5-25X52. I like to have a decent field of view when on its lowest magnification setting and lots of magnification on the top end. Since it wouldn't track correctly I sent it in for repair and installed a Bushnell 6500 4 1/2-30X50. The advantage of the z5 is it is 4 1/2 ounces lighter and has a slightly larger field of view when both are set on their lowest settings. Also it is better in low light.

Why? So often we see recommendations of 4 1/2-14X or there abouts. Both of the above have about the same field of view in the low end, but once you see game with your eyes or binos, you can get an up close look before you shoot if you want when you have lots of time.

I guess I should have read the thread. I responded to the OP.
The OP is the one that ain't after a real answer.

Read his posts on why custom guns are a waste etc.....

Fishing uses trolls. Nuff said.
Maybe "ignore" is a good place for a troll.

KDK> I agree with you but I have one {In My Youth} but whats the best scope for it? this is going for hunting !
I have a Zeiss Conquest 6.5x20 with turrets on it. It is a bit big but it works very well!
I just put a Nikon Monarch in 5x20x44 on my 257 BEE Remington LSS, I couldn't afford the Leupold because I bought too many guns!
Posted By: bcd Re: Best scope for a 257 Weatherby - 09/14/13
Just Got a real good Deal on a 3x9 Lightseeker. Its going On the 257! good or bad it will have to do!
I slapped a Weaver Super Slam 3 x 15 x 42 on my Vanguard S2 . Also dropped it into a. B & C Medalist stock. Scope Ran about 450.00. I would also look at the Vortex Viper HS as another reader suggested. Good Luck!
If I Head The Money To Do It Again, The New Zeiss Hd 5.5-20 Would Be A Top Mine.
For my personality I went with a Swarovski z5 5-25X52 on my Savage .257 Weatherby. It punked out on me so I installed a Bushnell 6500 4 1/2-30X50. Since it got back and so did my .257 SLR I installed the z5 on it this evening. It is built on a Weatherby six lug action. It weighs 7 pounds 3.5 ounces without ammo.
Leupold 4.5-14x40mm AO,
BCD no need to scope it. Load a round in the chamber, stick the barrel in your mouth and use your thumb to yank the trigger.

Do it for all of humanity
That's mean!
