it has a pretty sporty b.c. I think it's "interesting" that they are producing these, but not the 105's or the 162's

^ Agreed. What's with them developing new AM bullets when they can't even keep up with current hot selling models...

Don't reckon these could be the end result of a project for the military or maybe an OEM overrun from such a project?

Exactly what I was thinking!

well guess you gentlemen have never been involved in marketing or internal company manufacturing process....

designing a bullet in engineering doesn't necessarily have anything to do with current manufacturing.... marketing and development doesn't skid to a halt when manufacturing is at full tilt...

I'd bet this bullet has been on the marketing and development schedule since 2010 or 11....with an anticipated launch date of the end of 2013....

new products will also ALWAYS initially sell, hence why it is being launched when it is, despite current full manufacturing capacity....

Hornady also had said in July, that the products they were not making currently, are planned to be restarted in January.....

engineering and manufacturing plan out quarterly what they are going to use their manufacturing resources for every 90 days, based on projected sales figures, and based on historical quarterly requirements...

I'll stop being mad when I can get some 162s.

At a $1 each retail I'll just keep running 208's through my 30's. I hope they get the 105's back online before spring. I'm down to 4-5 boxes. I've got pleanty of the 162's and 208's.

I love Hornady bullets and have a Metric [bleep]-ton on the bench at any time, but I can't see running a 285/.720 when I can run a 300/.785 or a 300/.818 for the same money and get better externals.
