Oh, oh, oh, me, me me!!! Boyde, take me, take me!!!! (grin) It is still too cold here for them to come out, but time is nearing. If the smith will hurry and finish my custom 7mm mag, I will break it in the right way;). They are DEFINITELY my favorite long range target. I can't wait! Flinch

You guys are Killing me!
We just got another 8" on the ground, and the smart Chucks are warm in the den as of yet.
I gotta wait another 3-4 weeks.
Till then Heckle and Jeckle will have to do.
Happy hunting!

Boyd,
Do I take it that your invite is open to anyone? You are in PA, correct? How far are you from Erie? If it isn't to far I would love to join you on a woodchuck outting one day. I would enjoy watching how the REALLY LONG RANGE boys do it. I am always willing and sometimes able to learn from those more knowing then myself and you guys sure sound like you have it pretty well worked out.

Boyd,
Just say when and where and I'll show up with bells and whistles. And my Barr and Stroud. And my spotting scope.
I rather spot than shoot anyway.

What sort of uncivilized, unrepentant warthogs would shoot warm, fuzzy little rodents with centerfire rifles capable of turning 'em into technicolor dishrags?

Uh, other than myself and several friends.

Many years ago, in the wilds of Potter County, a bud of mine and I came across two lads set-up in an old house foundation with a shooting bench, B&S rangefinder and a pair of Spacemasters in a bracket atop a HD tripod. They were shooting a 7mmx300Wby BR rifle out to ranges of about 1500yds. I watched one fire three shots at a woodchuck at what they said was about 1200yds, if memory serves. Covered the 'hog with dirt on the third shot. Wasn't my first experience at this, but it was interesting.
One of them said they liked to see how close they could get. My bud told 'em he'd sooner vaporize one at 500yds, than throw dirt on 'em at 1200yds, (he also had a 7x300Wby BR rifle himself), but we all chuckled about how much fun varmint hunting is, regardless of the ranges involved.
Sneaking fencerows with a 22RF or Hornet, taking them at 400yds with a 22-250 or at 1000yds with the proper equipment...it's all good stuff.
Dave7mm.Leave your stuff at home...I have more than enough to go around.......
