when hunting long range, i would assume the absence of wind flags... what do you use to judge windspeed, and hold?

i know on a dog town, i can usually estimate hold pretty well out to 500 yards, but a p.d. is not big game, and sometimes it will take a shot or two to get it down...
just curious.

Yes, big time. Next to the correct range info, doping wind is a must. Laser range finders are neat, and they work. Computer generated range tables can be very usefull too. But wind you need to learn. And how your load drifts in it.
The best book I've seen is Mike Lau's "The Military and Police Sniper". Lots of good hints, and ideas. E
