I have dusted the cobwebs off my Remington 700 sendero in 300 ultramag. Problem is, no one has any ammo at my local stores, including Gander Mtn and Cabelas. Moreover, no one has any online.

Is this an end of year phenomenon, or has there been a big run on 300 RUM lately?
I decided to consider reloading again. Unfortunately, it appears all the big houses are out of stock on 300 ultramag brass as well. Most other stuff is in stock.

Not sure what is going on with the 300 ultramag lately.

I've had this rifle since 1999. I haven't faced this type of outage before.

Any other 300 RUM users having trouble?

I've checked Midway, Graffs, Brownells, Cabelas, Gander, Natchez, and several others.
no i load my own
I haven't looked for factory ammo for years, so I can't comment on that. Finding brass is like finding a sparkly pink unicorn. And when you do find it, it costs more than the unicorn.
Well, I used to reload back in the seventies and early eighties due to the lack of available premium bullets in factory loads.

I gave it up and sold my old RCBS press and dies when the factories started ramping up the premium ammo.

Now, I see that I may have to go back to it just to make sure I have ammo available. The circle of life.
Heres some....

Thanks for all the tips guys!

I'm going to give the HSM 210 GR Bergers a try. $70 a box!

I found a used up box of Remington 180 grain sciroccos from 1999, the year I bought the rifle. $29.99!!

Ammo as the next big investment scheme?
the trick to getting 300 RUM brass is to buy 1 box of factory loads every other paycheck and 100% abstain from buying alcohol, cigarrettes, candy bars, soda and other crap during that time, just go on a crap diet and don't cheat..... do this the 11 months prior to every hunting season and you will never run out of brass again, go set up steel or targets out to 1000 yards in 200 yard increments and shoot this ammo out which will provide for fun, practice and learning to shoot at the range the 300 RUM is capable of and it will get the brass fired in your chamber ready for some serious reloading ............ I got over 1000 pcs of brass this way ever since the 300 RUM first came out, and currently have two 300 RUMs, a 300 RUM Imp a 338 Edge to feed, and doing my wildcat the 8mm Razor (8mm-300 Rum Improved) ....... at the same time I also picked up a bag of Rem brass once every few months, even If Rem completey stops making brass for the 300 RUM there is Norma made 300 RUM brass available, I just picked up 200 pcs for my 8mm Razor and got 100 pcs of Bertram 338 Edge brass from Shawn Carlock at Defensive Edge, last summer I came across 3 sealed bags of Rem 7mm RUM brass and snagged them, don't have the 7mm but can neck up yo 30 cal easily, there are options and just because your local shop doen't have any it does not mean the cartridge is dead ......... most guys create their own shortages by not stocking up when stuff is available
Not too long ago Sportsman's had factory Remington 300 RUM ammo on sale. 200gr Swift A-Frames for $30 a box. Needless to say I bought quite a few boxes for the brass. I have yet to see how the factory stuff shoots. I have plenty of brass on hand at that point, but just couldn't pass on that deal.
