Some bullets for visual comparison. First is the Alco Bullet 6.5mm 160 with a claimed BC of .829. Next is the Hornady EXD-X at .615 BC and last is a Barnes LRX 127 with a .486 BC. I certainly hope the Also is at least a .725 BC. It sure comes to almost a needle point.

What twist is needed for the 160? 1/7?

I think it will.

My guess is an 1/8 at 3100 fps will work

Boy, just eyeballing them, the ELD-X sure doesn't look like it'd have a > 20% higher BC than the LRX...

Gasman,

The VLD-X has sixteen more grains to work with.

I know the LRX works from forty yards to 420 yards because I killed four animals with it last year. Muzzle velocity was 3,250 feet per second.

Yes, but you don't usually see a 20+ % jump with an increase of only 16 grains.

Any experience with the 7mm 168 LRX?

Yep, that's only .1 less than their claims, I'd be good with that too.

I haven't tried them yet in my 280 AI. I did have my Pac Nor barrel made with a 1:8 twist, so I should be able to stabilize them. Hard to find anyone with experience loading them. I contacted Barns, and they did send me load data for the 280 Ack and 168 LRX. They are HUGE!

Left to right (7mm): 150 grain Nosler ABLR, 168 Berger VLD Hunting, 168 Barns LRX

The loaded one is the Berger...

The ELD would not if the LRX did not have the parachute cut into them.

I measured 2 of them, and I'm showing and even 1.6"

But yeah, pretty close.
