FYI, I also posted this in the Optics Forum but thought I'd cover a couple bases at the same time.

I'm a newbie to posting on this site and also to expensive rifles and long(er) range shooting. However, I'll soon have a 300 Win Mag put together and through a lot of reading I'm mostly settled on a Bushnell LRHS in Mil/Mil configuration primarily due to features and price point (+/-$1100-1500). I'm posting on 24hr because I've found more information on this model riflescope at this site than anywhere else. With that said, most info/reviews have involved the 3-12 model and I've found little information on the 4.5x18. Please help me decide between the two.

I plan to use this rifle/scope combo to hunt to 600ish yards and maybe further if practice, skill and opportunity eventually allow for it. If anyone has experience with both models and can provide some input I'd appreciate that most, but I'll take any information the collective knowledge of this site is willing to provide.

If anyone has input about products outside the realm of Bushnell LRHS and a good reason for it then I'm all ears for that info too.

Welcome. I've got a 3-12 and very limited experience with it, but I do appreciate the quality. So far so good. Just using it for developing loads at this point.

I have a 3-12 and used it to take an antelope buck last year at 550 yards and a decent 4x5 mule deer the year before at 287. The deer was moving and it was an offhand shot and the reticle seemed helpful. I dialed for the antelope and it worked perfectly. So far only 2 shots at game and 2 animals down. I really like my 3-12.

I've yet to try the 4-18. A local shop marked one 50% off on Black Friday and I really wanted it but I was out of town that day.

I want to use the 4-18 on my 28 Nosler.

I picked up the 3-12x44mm LRHS at a banquet last fall for $600. Most folks thought I was crazy for spending that much for a Bushnell, but they didn't know what it was.

It's currently on an AR, but has spent some quality time on a 7 rem mag, and muzzleloader.

To address the question, it's a fantastic scope for the money.

For the price range/features you are looking for, I'd also look at the Nightforce SHV 4-14x50mm FFP. Either should make you an excellent scope.

I had the 3-13 lrhs and found i couldnt get comfortable behind it on my lr308. I now have the SWFA 3-15 on my lr308 and outside of it not having a factory zero stop (easily retrofitted) ive been impressed with it as well.

The Burris XTR II 3-15 SCR mil also gets great reviews on LRH and SH and is in the same budget.

I have a new heavy 300wm due to arrive monday and an XTR II 5-25 SCR mil for it due to arrive today. Hopfully i will have it all set up and zeroed by next weekend.

That's surprising. The LRHS is one of the easiest scopes to get behind that I've used.

Jordan, I am almost convinced i just got a lemon. The reticle would never really clear up despite multiple attempts to fine tune the diopter. Also the parallax adjustment was very touchy and the dial was significantly off from known yardages.

They get great reviews from a virtual shcitt ton of users so i know they are a good optic, my sample was an early one and likely just had bugs.

I actually just mounted the Bushy LRHS 4-12x 44 on a 243; it'll be used for coyotes and deer. I ordered the G2H reticle based on "mil's". Of course it's a FFP and a 30 mm scope, not a light weight scope by any means at some 22 oz.

I've done nothing beside mount and bore sight it but it's very easy to "get behind" and the glass after just a few peeks looks good. The reticle's ballistic "parts" almost disappear at low power and at 12x though they are magnified do not obscure or clutter IMO as they are very fine

The outer aspects of the horizontal and vertical reticle are very heavy and though the center aspects are quite fine as mentioned there is a heavier circular part to the reticle 4 mil's wide that draws your eye right to the center.

I think I'm going to like this scope.

This, and don't overlook the used market. I recently bought a 5.5-22 NXS in like new condition for $1500.

Quite hard to find a used 3-12 LRHS for anything south of $800...

Mine weighs a tad over 25 oz. Heavy suckers, they are....

PS I was in Whittakers yesterday. They have a 3-12 and a 4.5-18 at pretty doggone attractive prices. Less than $900 for the 3-12 and less than $1200 for the 4.5-18...

That's lower than any source has for those scopes I've seen.

I'm unfamiliar with Whitakers, but I'll need another LRHS for a current build.
