Anyone have any experience with the combo listed?

I'm wanting to start loading soon and am looking for a starting point. I emailed Alliant but haven't heard back yet.

I wanted to try this combo as soon as I heard about this bullet. It just seems like the perfect long range bullet for the caliber.

Seems like you could work up using RL25 data.

Reloader 25 and 26 are quite different and alliant specifically states not to use 25 data for 26. Go to noslers website and go to their forums and ask for a quickload workup with your cartridge and bullet/powder combo. I have worked up loads this way with re26 in my 220 swift with minimal hassle and great results. It will also give you a velocity to work towards that will give you max pressure so you know where you are at when pushing into new territory. Good luck!

Aldo I tried emailing alliant with a similar question this spring, and never got a response. You probably won't hear back from them. Great since they have come out with new powders and have only given very limited data since.

Thanks for the info. I decided to just do a ladder test with the combo starting at 60 grains. This will allow me to watch velocity on my magneto and look for pressure. Using .5 gr increments up to 71. I'll post results.

And alliant did answer, saying they have no info for me.

You had kinda better luck than me with alliant than lol.
Keep an eye out for pressure on your ladder test, and good luck. Be sure to let us know your results, I have 2 pounds or so of re26 and my next build is going to be a 7mm RM shooting heavy bergers. I am very curious to see your results.

Also QLs actual Burn Rate for 26 is off enough I had to start much lower in order to not be at max right outta the gate.

I made a range trip with loaded Ammo trying to look at pressure and speed.

I loaded one round with R26 starting at 61.0gr with the 175eldx

Here are the results:

I stopped at 66 even though I had more rounds loaded. Temperature was around 92*, elevation 1100.

Rifle is a R700 with a Benchmark 1-9 twist barrel out to 26". Chronograph was a Magneto Speed V3.

I loaded up test loads from 63.8 - 65.0gr because all those rounds went through the same hole at 100 yards. Will report back with final load.

175 at 3,000 fps would be great.

How's this powder supposed to be as far as temp sensitivity? I'm going to start developing loads for a 7mm Mashburn I'm building and I don't like powders that are temp sensitive.

I'm using R26 in my 243 with 105 amax's at 3221fps. I developed the load last winter and didn't see any change this summer. Much better than R17

That is smoking for a .243! 3000 for a 175 is great velocity and should be dynamite for long range hunting.
