I just purchased a old full 100 pcs box of Sierra 30 caliber 200 grain Match King.
It is the two tone green cardboard box I would guess 15 - 20 year old vintage.
200 GR. Match King printed on box label. Does not say HPBT. They are 1.39 " long
pointed Boat Tail bullets. I do not know the term for the bottoms but are incurvate not flat and
can see lead core from bottom. May be lame idea on my part but I planned on loading and
shooting some of these 500 - 750 yd practice so I do not use up too many of my 200 grain Accubonds.
I will appreciate any Campfire imput or guestimate of the BC of these sweet looking bad boys.
Given what you say about the lead visible at the base I suspect they're older than your guess. Look at Sierra's address on the box and then Google up some history. They moved several times over the years. It might even be on the Sierra website.

Thank you - says SIERRA BULLETS, INC. Whittier, California ?
The data base in my ballistic calculator from 1986 lists a Sierra 200gr Matchking HP with a ballistic coefficient of 0.582. Doesn't sound unrealistic. Good luck.
They were a very popular long range hunting bullet in cartridges like the then wildcat 30x378s when I started using one about 40 years ago. And you know what? they still are.
280fan - .582 does not surprize me. What a guy, Thank you !

Yobuck - Interesting ! i was hopeing they will not vaperize in a 300 Ultra mag.
Well in a 36" barrel using 113 gr of the old H570, 3500 fps is pretty standard with the 30x378 using that bullet.
Trust me they wont vaporize. Using a 100 yd zero figure about 145/150 1/4 min clicks at 1500 depending on the day.
My 1978 Sierra manual lists it as .596, if it's the same 200gr .308 BT Match King.
I talked to Sierra a few years ago asking the same sort of thing. I was asking about some older boxes of 168 hpbt matchkings. I was informed that they don't ever change the design of a bullet. If they make a new design they give it a different product number. Look at the product number of your 200 gr matchking. I'd bet it is the 2230. I think the 2231 is a newer version.

You could call Sierra to verify.
