I’m thinking of putting together a nice custom rifle using a Manners Ultra Classic stock
Here are the components
Manners Ultra Classic 14-1/4” LOP
Shillen Select Match #3 deep flutted 22”
Timney trigger
3 position safety
Remington 700 LA
Hawkins OD BM
DNZ mounts
What kind of weight can I expect out of this project.
Chambering in 6.5-06
Would love to hear your feedback on the manners stock in general and any photos you want to share. Thanks.
it has a very straight grip
a number two would look better to me in it
You would be right around six depending on shank.
For reference:
Manners UC plus
Defiance anTi with rail
Bartlein #3 contour 24" 6.5 PRC, straight fluted
Hawkins Hunter M5 DBM and mag
TT special
TBAC CB
6 lbs 10 oz.
The barrel is not short shanked, could have saved weight by going with a 1" shank.
I too prefer the UC Plus version as the forend is a little meatier (can take a proof light) and I have big hands.
Defiance anti-x XM
Benchmark #4 25” fluted 7 saum
Hawkins XM bdl kit
Bix Dakota trigger
6lb 3oz sans scope
Thanks for the info. Are there any other stock makers out there that offer a comparable stock without the open grip profile? I’m looking for something light weight with a cheek piece. Thanks.

A Brown Precision Pounder.
Take a look at AG Composites stocks. I have a couple and like them.
Good luck with Manners. I’ve given up on receiving a stock made to the specs I ask for from them. 0 for 2. In addition, in my experience, they require a fair amount of fitting too
I was not a fan of the open grip on the UC that I had. And a 2B barrel was too stout IMO, especially after Manners messed up the inletting and left way too long of a shank in the barrel channel
